Byg Selv was an interesting clone with a so far unknown manufacturer. Mainly found with LEGO from the 1950's it is not likely it existed much longer than 1960. So far it seems like these bricks were only available in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Before the name "Byg Selv" was discovered on an original box, the bricks were known as "X-clone" bricks.

They are hollow on the underside with slots for windows and doors just like the early LEGO bricks. The plastic used has a glossy semi-transparent look and a glass-like sound when dropped on a hard surface. They also have a tiny dot on each stud. The later bricks use a similar plastic, but with a more solid colour and less glossy.

The windows and doors are "one-sided", meaning they have details on one side, but are completely flat without detail on the other.
