Red hollow LEGO brick

Hollow bricks is a common name used for all LEGO bricks without tubes and slots. They were released the same time in Norway and Denmark, 1956. The hollow bricks mould had LEGO on the studs, the very first time LEGO bricks had this. They also had hollow studs and a small number underneath for the position of the brick in the mould.

In Norway they can be found in all the basic colours - red, white, blue, yellow and trans-clear. This mould was used together with the double logo mould up until the tube bricks came in 1958. It is a common mould that can be found in all countries which got LEGO before the tube bricks arrived.

It also appears that some 1x2 bricks with 1 slot was part of the hollow bricks mould. This was needed during the transition period from slotted to hollow bricks, and some were included in the 1236 and 1310 sets needed for the garage door.
